Fluffy Musings Of A Southern Transplant Posing As A Lipstick Librarian...

Wiki-wha?

Anyone who really knows me, knows that I am the "Photo Shop" queen (actually, Paint Shop Pro, to be exact). Sometimes, I literally won't let a guest leave until I have spruced up the pictures we've taken. It is a sickness. It is the "Monica" in me. I can't help it. I once "cloned" over 50 tourists out of a picture of hubby and me on the Spanish Steps in Rome, just because I wanted the picture to look more like Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck in Roman Holiday. (I'm not saying I'm an Audrey, I'm saying I'm a Monica.) Anyway, I'm just saying.

On a related note, I've been thinking seriously of copyrighting my images lately. I've got lots of nice pictures and it would be a shame if someone took them and claimed ownership. (None of us are without blame, I'm just saying it happens and many times inadvertently. I've done my share of google imaging myself.) So any thoughts on this? I was thinking of some demure little symbol at the bottom corner or something along those lines...

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Now to the heart of the matter, imagine my surprise to see that my photoshopping is famous! Of course, I never signed it or placed ownership of any kind - in fact, I didn't even take the picture. I just spent two hours photoshopping fixer out of it and adding faint touches of hues (Did you notice the blues and pinks? Please say ya did! That took lots of time!). And I am not upset, either, about this being here. I don't want to give that impression. In fact, I am flattered. These pictures turned out really good-looking and it is nice to see that other people like them too. And, this also means that someone has taken the time to really look through the website I designed for the library (because the images aren't "google-image" searchable). So, I guess "all's well that ends well" or something. But it does make you think, huh? The world-wide web is just that - open to all the world (and the world is wide).

Hmmm. Paint Shop Pro eh? Well, funny... I just bought that myself. Would you be willing to mentor a paint shop pro dummy? Slide a few tutorial links my way? *pwease?*

I used to never put a little © symbol (to get it... just type 'alt' 0169 and it'll appear) with my name on the bottom... then I started to hear all sorts of complaints from other people (artists and blogger alike) about photos being taken and used by someone else. Now I try to remember to add it whenever I post a picture on the web. One can never know and if someone is going to use my picture... I want credit for it (or atleast for someone else not to take credit for it). Just my two cents.

ps - I just love your pictures! I bow before the paintshop pro! :)

I agree, you should add a © or something to your pics....you took the picture, you jazzed it up, you deserve the credit! I have been adding just my little tag on my pictures, I know if someone wanted to they could photoshop it out, but still, it's my picture and I feel I deserve some credit. So I hear ya g/f!!

You are very talented, love your photos!!
