She's Back!
Alright ya'll, I'm back. I was cableless and depressed for a couple of days, but I'm here again. Things are looking up now - the "sun will come up tomorrow" and all that. We are in our new place in full and no longer have to deal with the old place. (Although, I did have some issues this morning in the new place, when my potty would not flush. I am SO not an "If it's yellow, let it mellow" kind of girl. I can pee in the woods, but I can't stand to let it linger. Y.U.C.K. I am dealing with my issues though.) The cats are now moved in, too. They like the new place, I think. Granted, they spend most of their time under my bed, I think the place will grow on them. I'll have to post some pictures of room progress.

Reasons why today is BLAH:1. It's raining a lot and it is supposed to rain ALL weekend long.
2. My job makes me feel bi-polar. (And I really mean this.)
3. I don't have any friends up here.
4. I woke up today relizing that I left some vital things in the "other" apartment - yeah, because we're still in between places. It really sucks.
5. My cats are still in the "other" apartment. I miss them. I only get to see them on lunch breaks!
6. I desperately need a vacation, but that is an impossiblity. And I'm also really tired of hearing of hearing about other people's vacations! [Read - jealous. Very jealous.]
7. I'm sore from painting.
8. Did I mention the rain?
9. This weekend is going to be spent packing, unpacking, painting, and cleaning so next week won't be as bad as this week. But that still means this weekend is going to suck.
10. And finally, Blogger sucks.

Little Andy
Thinking of my bud today... (and yesterday, too - twas his birthday). He's a cutie pie, is he not? And he's helped us so much these past two weeks with the move. In fact, he is helping out once again Wednesday night. I can't believe he's 25 and a day. Crazy.

New Hope, VA
Ahh... We're home. We arrived in New Hope, VA at my Mom and Pops' house, and now we are sitting around relaxing. It just seems that whenever we come here, the world seems right again. I wonder why that is?!? Anywho, this is a beautiful picture my sis took on a visit here. She really seemed to capture the rolling hills and the sun-kissed land. Tim and I were sitting outside in my folks' backyard a little while ago, watching the sun go down, listening to the crickets chirp, and watching the little yellow finches at Moms' feeder. Really, who could ask for more?

Birthday Girl
Thanks ya'll for the lovely birthday thoughts and wishes. Momma, thanks so much for your thirteen!!! That was too sweet. And Beck and Christie, thank you girls for the awesome photo montages - I miss you guys! And all these comments!!! Ya'll make me blush. Sandy, I wish I was turning a young twenty-one (it's more like a twenty-seven biological-clock-is-ticking thing, though)! Thanks everybody. I'm off to complete the night with dinner and a movie, hopefully "Talladega Nights." Ahh yeah.

See Suzy Droop...
Yup, we're still moving... BTW, moving is really no fun. Neither is painting. But, you know what is worse than painting and moving? Working all day at a place crawling with kids, THEN painting and moving. That really sucks. It makes you feel like you aren't getting anything done. Sorry I've been so grouchy as of late... Write me an encouraging note to cheer me up!

Mango Drink @ Mango Bay
Yeah, this is my buddy Ruthie who's been in New Zealand for the past 3 and a half months. Doesn't she suck?!? Naw, actually she is one of my favorite tourists ever... (Rick Steves has NOTHING on this girl!) I'm just insanely envious. I think that, were I there on that sandy beach, I could learn some contentment! For now, though, I am living vicariously...

Photo Friday - "Four"

This is me in Ireland, on the Dublin coast, hunting four-leafed clovers... and all I found was a freaky jellyfish. I don't guess that would count, would it? (Though, as you can see, I was clearly thrilled at the time.)
Speaking of Ireland, I finally finished scrapbooking that country (from our big trip two summers ago - seven different Euro countries, Rick Steves style)! I finished it up right before the big move, so I can start fresh. I'm so proud. It took me AGES!!!

Home Adventures
Setting: ten o'clock pm in the dark (pre-motion sensored) driveway of our new apartment...
Him: "Oh look! It's the neighborhood cat.
Me: "Really?"
(motion sensors turn on)
Me: (high pitched shriek)
Him: "Holy S***!!! Skunk!!!
True Story.
Finders Keepers
Have you ever seen that HGTV show where they feature people who found old treasures in their homes while remodeling? I've watched that show and always secretly hoped that one day we'd find something spectacular... something other than old glass Dr. Pepper bottles or rusted train track spikes. Well, up till now, I always thought that kind of thing was either staged or that those people must have just been incredibly lucky. But the other day, while clearing out another (blasted) closet to paint (add another expletive here), Tim found something cool. Granted, it was in an old jar of "suppositories" (which I would NEVER have DARED to open)! The jar was full of really cool old coins; like old silver dollars, half dollars, and Italian currency. I don't know anything about old coinage, but I am now inspired to do a bit of research! I'll let ya'll know if we actually found a bit of treasure or not. (I know we had a few "Walking Liberty" halves.) Who knows, maybe one day you'll see us on that show! (Doubtful, but fun to think about.)

Monday's Movie - Aquamarine
I saw a totally girlie movie this past week (since I've been busy with the moving, I haven't had a ton of time to watch movies, so this will have to do for my MM). I don't usually pick up these kind of flicks, it is just that as a "young adult" librarian, I need to familiarize, you know?!? Anyway, I saw Aquamarine, which is based on a book by Alice Hoffman. Yup, total chick flick. Lots of giggling and girlie magazine reading but if you can get past all that, it was actually a cute movie! (Or maybe I am just totally losing it. It's one or the other.) It is about these two friends making a wish and learning to make good choices and be more self-reliant. One has a fear of the water and the other fears her move to Australia. Their wish becomes realized in this mermaid chick who arrives, pulling a Little Mermaid runaway scheme. Anyway, it's cute. If nothing else, I enjoyed the fact that "Aquamarine," the mermaid, used a baggy aqua-colored shirt, tied up several different ways, as her costume for practically the whole movie. Now THAT is some creative costuming! Now on to Buffy!

Photo Friday - "Private"
Ack - I wasn't sure what to post for this theme! If it's private, it's private, you know?!? Well, this is a photo of me in my private garden in TN, when we used to live in that area. Can you tell I'm nostalgic? Luckily, our new place will have some earth I can play in, unfortunately it won't be nearly as "private." I'll have to share with two other house dwellers. I'll take whatever I can get at this point, though.

Moving Sucks
Moving really sucks. There ain't no better way to say that. Well, at least we found a decent place. Another thing that sucks is money and security deposits. Those both REALLY suck. The budget is going to insanely tight for a little bit, until we get through this transition. Why is it that one place thinks it appropriate to hold onto your money until you've moved and the other place feels it necessary to have that money before you've moved. Does that make sense? Can't they just work together and trade hands?
Anyway, I just spent all night boxing up books, and the boxes are too heavy for me to even lift, much less carry up three flights of stairs. (Did I say yet that moving sucks?!?) Hopefully we can start moving stuff in this weekend, this way we won't have to shell out more money that we don't have for a moving vehicle! Ack. Moving really sucks.

Sunday Memory
I met up with an old friend on Sunday - Shanna Banana! (Her name is not really "banana" but I guess you already know that...) Well, I hadn't seen her in about 6 years, so we had fun catching up and exploring the city. We met up at Grand Central and went for a NYC bagel breakfast, then walked the "Museum Mile" to see the Guggenheim (which was a first for me - Frank Lloyd Wright designed the building and it is an A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. structure). After that, as we were walking toward Central Park, I had a weird NY experience - I randomly saw someone I knew! It's this great artist guy, named Michael Albert! How bizarre?!? (Anyway, I know his cool family because they hung out at my library every Friday for storytimes and the reading clubs.) So, it made me feel like a true New Yorker, to actually be able to say hi to someone who I kind of know!
After all of that, we saw the sights at Central Park, Bethesda Fountain, the "Mall", and whatnot, then we had lunch in Bryant Park, next to the NY Public Library. We finished off the day with a visit to Daffy's, my new favorite store! All in all, a busy and fun day. And how great it was to visit with an old buddy (and go girl shopping!). More pictures here...
